This way, you will find yourself smiling a lot and enjoying it as well. What I suggest is to just take it as a purely fictional story with a corn-for-brains main character. But, if you are offended by such characters and can’t stand them, this series is not for you. You’ll discover all his ”attributes” in the first five minutes with Wedding Bells for Brett and you might be wanting to put the book down or to stop listening, but I think that if you give him a chance, he will grow on you. At no moment what so ever should you take Brett seriously, just think of the story as a well-written parody. A word of caution for those new to this series. They have some serious questions regarding Brett‘s whereabouts and he must have some good answers or his short walk down the aisle can transform into a long stay in prison… What will happen to the poor soul? Can he extricate himself from this very unpleasant situation? Well, you’ll need to give a listen to the audiobook if you want to find out. If you add that he is not the brightest bulb in the bunch and that, at times, he is really stupid, you might cut him some slack and enjoy this hilariously funny novel… Set in the late 1980’s, like all the other books in this series, Wedding Bells for Brett finds our ”hero” in big trouble after his ”wife” is found dead in a hotel room under mysterious circumstances and the Police come knocking at the self proclaimed unscrupulous bastard’s door.
